Dario’s passion for flying was ignited on his first flight as a one-year-old boy. This lasting impression determined his decision of becoming a professional aerobatics pilot and still impacts his life until today.
His enthusiasm and dedication led him to achieving his goals over the years. With his 20 years of flying experience Dario is a great addition to the 2018 Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class.

Dario was born in Manchester, UK, holding a dual citizenship. Growing up in Bologna, he started aviation as a 14-year- old in High school. Shortly afterwards, he performed his first solo in 1996. After studying physics at the University of Bologna, he taught as the youngest flight and aerobatics instructor in Italy. Since 2013 Dario lives in Salzburg, first working as a Flight Operations Manager and Development Pilot in the Red Bull Air Race Team. Currently Dario is competing in the Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class to qualify for the prestigious Master Class. The ascent is rather tough but manageable.
When not being up in the air, Dario spends his spare time with his son and wife, preferably somewhere in the mountains or lakes, indulging in Italian food.
